Yellow Breeches, 09/14/25
Carl and I were finally able to get his June Birthday present in. We fished from 7:45AM until 1:30PM. The water is low, clear and 52-64 degrees. We did see midges, tan and October caddis with a few on and off rising trout. It was sunny, calm and warmed up to 86 degrees. Carl was not new, but I did correct an incorrect leader set-up. Then he was rolling dry flies over much easier. I would say this was the best dry/dropper fishing I have seen in months. That good, only fished just 1 run with nymphs. Carl was happy to catch any trout since he just can’t get out much. I would say the takes were 60% dropper, 40% dry fly. 1 little rainbow and around 8, 4” to 12” browns. If we finally get some rain and these streams will be on fire for fall. Still, if willing to take your time fishing not that bad right now.
