Yellow Breeches, 05/21/25

At least I got three trips in, before the rain hists us again. I’m not complaining at all, I’ll take ever drop. So, before I met up with John, I checked out the stream along with Mountain creek like I always do. Seeing the gauge was still at 2.2 and Mountain Creek was still pushing a lot of water, I knew the Upper Breeches would be the best bet. John and I hit stained 51 degree water at 8AM. We fished to just after 2PM. It was a cool sunny, 50 degree start and only hit 65 degrees. We were greeted by abundant caddis, BWO’s and a few sulphurs from mid-morning on. But these trout are being well fed on the bottom. So it became a nymphs off indicator kind of a day. It was a very active day with plenty of rainbows and few small browns and a big “Orange Peel” in the net. John was very pleased and can’t wait to do it again.
