Yellow Breeches, 05/23/25
It was quite to cool 8AM start for Mike and I today. It was 52 degrees, turning cloudy and breezy. We fished until around 3PM. The water is flowing great, but remain cautious because it is still moving. It was tinted to stained and only 50 degrees when we started. 50 degrees is crazy cool for this time of year. Wish that would be the case every year! I got my Thomas and Thomas 10’4wt Zone ready and we hit the stream. We walked to were I wanted to start and did my thing. I studied the water. Mike asked me what I was looking at. I said water clarity, insects and if any rising trout. Although we had caddis and sulphurs hatching all day, nothing was taking off the surface. So I said get ready, it is a nymph and indicator kind of a day. Mike is fairly new, we worked out a few minor things. It was just the reaction timing to setting the hook. He had many on and missed several. Even broke off one hell of a rainbow. Still, we put many trout into the net.
