Red Run, 04/30/26

Paul’s second trip with me this year and we were both very excited. Paul is an excellent fly fisherman so if the trout were nice to us it was going to be a great day. Antietam was 2.5 and stained. The previous nights rain has it in great shape. That is not the reason I did not fish it. It was trying to find cover from the relentless wind. It was mostly sunny and warmed to 65 degrees. Red Run was 50 degrees, clear. If anything was hatching, those bugs got blown away. Paul fished nymphs all day. We only needed two fly patterns the entire time. Paul missed very few. We put almost 20 in the net. some rainbows, but mostly beautiful colored 7 to 15 inch wild browns. It was a great day and I think we are both happy to be out of the wind.
