Big Springs & Mountain Creek, 05/01/26

I spent the morning with Seth and Rob. It was a chilly 42 degree start. The sunny skies warmed up to 64 degrees. So it was a nice time to be on the water. Seth had two missions which turned into three. They both really knew how to fly fish. Mission #1, How to catch Big Springs trout? So, we fished there from 8:30 until 10:30. The water was clear and 52 degrees. Nothing hatching as well. So we fished some riffles and then I taught them how to stalk and sight fish. They lost 1, missed a big rainbow and Rob landed a small brook trout. Mission #2 was an easy one. I showed them some fishing spots on the Yellow Breeches as we made our way to Mission #3. They did not know where to fish on Mountain Creek. We spent about 30 minutes on it. The water was 50 degrees, stained and flowing very nice. There were a few trout rising to caddis. Switched to dry/droppers and in a short amount of time, 4 missed on the dropper, 3 lost, landed a nice brown and two rainbows. Missions complete and that was an enjoyable time fishing with these guys.
