Antietam/Red Run, 10/06 to 10/07/26

I had a great time fishing with Larry for a day and a half. I met him at the Farmhouse to help him get settled in on Monday. We met up Tuesday at 8AM and fished to about 3PM. It was a chilly 38 degree start and warmed to 60 under blue bird skies. Tuesday we started at 8:30AM and fished to 2PM. Again, we had blue bird skies and 44 to 71 degrees. Tuesday we focused on trying to get “Red October”. He had two that were 18 inches, but a little late on the delicate takes. Once Larry realized how delicate these trout take, he went on to land a heavy 16” rainbow, three mid teen browns and added another rainbow to end the day. Today we tried real quick for a big boy. Again a chance at one that was around 25 inches. Just a hair too late on the set. Then we set off with a game plan we discussed the day before. Hit Red Run with dry/droppers and hope for the best. He fell in love with it. We landed nothing big, “they are there” but easily over 10 wild brown trout. Larry had the best of times. Told me, he had more fun than he ever anticipated while fishing such pristine streams.
