Antietam/Red Run, 06/27/25
Mike, Brenda and I finally made our annual Antietam trip. It was rescheduled due to the high water earlier in May. Now we have outstanding flow, but the crazy heat wave has warmed up the water. We started at 8AM and had descent water temps. but that ended by around 1PM. Not much was hatching, but a few nice trout occasionally surprised us with a big splash rise. More than likely it was an attract on a terrestrial. Mike Euro nymph all day and it was very effective. Brenda who is always out there to just have fun fish nymphs off indicators. She fished to noon and Mike and I finished the day. Brenda missed several, lost three and landed a small rainbow and a small brown. Mike had quite the day despite not as much action, but larger trout. He landed a chunky 17 inch brown, two rainbows around the same size and a hog of a rainbow took him into a root wad to the point of no return. Him and I ventured way upstream on Red Run where he missed and the landed a small brown before we threw in the towel. It is always a great time with these two and we always walk away with many things to laugh at.
