Antietam/Red Run, 03/25/26

I had a great day with Tom. I always start the day explaining just how light these wild trout take. There are times an indicator may not even move and “Bam” trout on. We fished from 8AM until 2PM. It was mostly cloudy and 54 degrees. The water was around 2.5’ and stained. Antietam was 42-44 degrees and Red Run was 50 degrees. By mid-morning the air filled with various sizes of dark midges. Tom was not really new but just a lack of trout time. I worked with him on a few things but it was just setting the hook on time. We fished nymphs off indicators the entire time. At first it was mostly missed trout, but as we progressed miss trout became lost trout. With around 20 takes Tom did still land a handful. Tom also insisted I fish as well. I did a little and I landed 1 and he watched me miss them as well. We landed all rainbows but did have a few nice browns on. He said it was some of the most beautiful trout water he has ever stepped foot into and is coming back.

We both had a great time. It was also cool that I fished with a World Series winner! That’s a first for me. I had a schedule change which opened up some Private water dates for April. April 25-26 is now open. It won’t be for long. If interested, contact me ASAP and you too can be on the incredible trout fishery.
