Last week Jerry, Ron and I work and scouted for the morning. The water was clear and hovering at 66 degrees. There were a few rising trout. We saw midges, a few tan caddis and olives. We did not fish hard at all but combined we had 6 browns. Today, I went down to cut some new trails and other needed stream stuff. I was down there from 8AM until noon, but only fished while working till 10AM. The water was 64 degrees and a little off-color. A storm came though last night. Nothing was rising, but I saw midges, craneflies, tan caddis and blue duns flying around. I just tied on a streamer and again not a hard fish, just scouting. I did well. I had follows from two above mid-teen browns and managed a small wild brown, a 12” rainbow and a brown around 15 inches.
This water is going to cool off quick if the long range forecast stays correct. Better start thinking about a trip the second week of September until the end of October and get on these fabulous streams we have. Ron and I still have dates available.
