I had a great day with Alain and Brian. This is Alain’s second visit and is coming back in the fall. Brian had never really fly fished. He was tossed in at the last minute due to Bill’s work load. So we hit the water from 7:30AM and wrapped things up by 2PM. It was a sunny 54 degree start warming to a pleasant 79. They were very satisfied but they wanted to get back home. The water is a clear 2.3’ of flow. The morning water temperature was 58 degrees and only warmed to 62 degrees. That is stellar! A lot of Tricos, but still nothing feeding off the surface. So we fished with nymphs off indicators and the bite was on. I’m not even having to bottom bounce the nymphs, so when the indicator twitches, “Set”. Can’t say it enough. These wild trout take so light. They had a great day. We at least 15 on, two big boys lost, landed 2 nice rainbows and two small browns.
We have cold water and the long range weather outlook is incredible for July fishing. Don’t hesitate to get on the water with me.
