Antietam, 05/10/26

This is the first of the new Orvis 101 schools offered at the Hill Country Orvis in Blue Ridge Summit. It is a 2 day school with day one being instruction and day two a half day guide on Antietam Creek. The school is run by Mr. Orvis himself Captain Scott Barmby. He’s gonna love that. We had 9 students who spent Saturday at Hill Country learning casting and much more. TO FINISH THE SCHOOLING, STUDENTS SPEND A 1/2 DAY GETTING THE BEST INSTRUCTION from the best guides. We teach them how to catch these wild trout in a variety of ways. Also, we taught leader designs, reading water, mending and the list could go on. Mike, who I was with said, “If I can only remember a half of what you taught me, I can do this on my own”. And that is what everyone felt like while they were eating a catered lunch after fishing with myself, Ron Kline, Broc Miller and Todd Bosley. So today we fished with nymphs to start, both Euro and indicator fishing. That was the ticket to catching trout as it has been this year. Everyone missed or caught trout. I think the biggest was a 16 inch brown and an 18 inch rainbow. We still showed them dry fly techniques and crazy enough that put three small browns to the net.

These will be the next upcoming dates for the schools, October 24th & 25th & December 5th & 6th. Here is the html to the site where you can book, just copy and paste into your browser
