Love having Suzy back down again. This time she brought her friend Ron. I met them around 1Pm on Monday and they set off and fished and picked up a few browns. We met Tuesday at 8AM and fished to 4PM. The weather was to be good, but it was not. It was heavy overcast all day. Two hours of rain ended around 11AM, followed by a cold wind at air temperatures at 53 degrees. The water was still is a perfect 2.4’ of flow and clear. The water temperatures dropped back to 48 degrees. I knew we would have to work for every trout. We fished nymphs off indicators and had a very successful day despite the weather. Started with both Suzy and Ron losing 4. Takes, “as always” are light so made for a some lost trout. Still they were on the hook. No big ones today, but at least 15 landed mostly small browns and a nice 16 inch rainbow. At around 3pm, a crazy hatch of BWO’s started and many trout started to rise. It looked like a Western hatch of bugs. I wanted them to keep fishing, but they had to pack up to drive home. Can’t wait when Suzy and whoever she invites to come back in October.
