Antietam, 02/25/26
I had enough of being in the house. I needed some stream time. So I headed to the Private Water to check things over for upcoming trips and do a little fishing myself. It was to reach mid-50’s, but only rose to 43 degrees. The water is slightly tinted, 2.4’ in flow. stream was a chilly 36 degrees. There were plenty of dark midges and some black stoneflies hatching. Nothing was rising to them. I fished for about 4 hours. It was winter fishing. Slow and low with nymphs and small streamers. And like winter, action is slow. I had a successful time. I landed a wild brown and a rainbow that made it down into our section. It’s time to plan your Antietam trip. This is a premier fishery that we have. As for March, these dates are open. March 10-12, 17-19.
