Yellow Breeches, 04/18/24

I met up with Tyler and Justin just after 8:00AM.Both were kind of new to fly fishing and wanted to learn. That is what I’m best at, “teaching the art”. I felt so bad for Justin. We hit the water and a work emergency came up so he was gone. Still in 20 minutes of fishing and learning he landed a wild brown. The weather was a complete change from past few days. It must have rained somewhere last night cause the breeches was up about an inch. The sun never came out till we left. It stayed damp and very overcast all day. The caddis and midge never really started to hatch. The bite was on, but the takes were light. So Tyler and I worked on nymph fishing most of the time. We did switch to dry/droppers and I fine tuned his cast and he got laying the line on the water longer and softer. He did miss one on a dry. The nymphs did the trick. Missed a bunch still a 10 trout day. They can’t wait to come back again. Two cool guys and can’t wait to be on the water with them again.
