Private Water Guide Service Falling Spring

Private Water Guide Service Falling Spring

from $400.00

South Central Pennsylvania is famous for its limestone springs, and the Falling Spring Branch is the queen of them all. It was here that noted angler George Harvey was amazed by the trico hatch in 1935, and it is here that a diverse group of anglers, residents, landowners and businessmen from around the region have come together to appreciate and preserve this wonderful resource.

The 2000’ stretch of water that we have exclusive access to is located within the Borough of Chambersburg, off Montgomery Avenue and owned by the Gabler Family. This beautiful section of stream has some of the best holding water on the Falling Spring.

This area holds wild brown trout and stocked rainbows and browns. Fish sizes run from 12” to the mid 20” range. Some of the Falling Spring is abundant with natural and invasive vegetation, however this section has less invasive vegetation, deep pockets, riffles and nice runs. It is a very picturesque area even though it runs through a section of town.

It can be fished with nymphs, streamers and dry flies and has abundant sulfur and trico hatches. It also is an outstanding section for terrestrial fishing.

The Falling Spring is a true spring creek and can be fished year-round as the water temperatures stay between 52 to 65 degrees. The best fishing is from late March through July and then again in the fall before the browns begin to spawn, but needless to say, any day on this section of water will prove productive. The stream area is catch and release only and guided parties have exclusive use the day of their booking.
