Yellow Breeches, 04/14/26

I had such a wonderful 1/2 day with Rick and Brenda. We started around 9:30AM and got off the stream at 1:30PM. Weather was great other than the wind, given that I was giving a casting lesson to Brenda. We could use some rain. The water is clear, 1.1 in flow. Midges and caddis hatching, but nothing taking off the surface. That said, Rick said, just point me in the right direction and spend most of your time with Brenda. I did show Rick why tippet rings are awesome. He loved that. Brenda was very detailed oriented and she took to it very quickly. I started with dries, because it is visually easier to see, correct drifts and how to mend properly. When she had that down we moved on to it working on nymphing techniques. By now Rick had missed two. Brenda ended with 1 on, 5 misses and she landed here first ever trout on a fly rod. They were both so grateful for my patience and teaching . Another lady fly fisher was born today!
