Hatches: no prolific hatches

Today I met with Chris and his son Owen. Both were intent on learning more about fly fishing being somewhat new to the sport and once on the water we got to work. Searching to see if the stockers wanted natural flies or the infamous egg/mop fly combo I started each one on a double nymph rig of each to start. In less than 10 minutes Chris caught a bow on natural patterns with a quill degon and caddis rig. With the answer so quick I set Owen up on a double nymph rig with a blue collar pt and brown caddis. After some picking apart pocket water he was getting fish on the hook but they came off mid fight. A quick lesson on how to fight them and he was off to the races. Between the 2 they caught close to 10 fish and Owen was netting them himself by the end of the day when I was helping Chris. Despite working around the rain and getting a late start and some afternoon wind it was a great time on the water.

I still have many weekend dates available.  Reach out to me at 717-331-7390 or Precision Fly and Tackle.
