Antietam, 10/25/26
Had a great group of 8 students again for another Orvis 101 school. Saturday they were at Hill Country learning the basics. Today they hit the stream with myself, Todd Bosley, Broc Miller and Ron Kline. Scott Barmby put the pairings together and we fished for 8AM until noon. It was a frosty start. It was sunny, 35 degrees along with a slight breeze. The water was clear and 43 degrees. We worked on reading water, different fishing techniques, leaders, entomology. Basically everything we could pack in during the morning. It was a very good day and everyone left pleased and excited they are now fly fisherman. Most all caught. we put 10 browns in the net and a nice 15 inch rainbow.
That was a great way to close Antietam until December 1, 2026. It is officially shut down for the spawning. Our property is not only for guiding, but most important our conservation effort to keep it the fantastic fishery it is.
