I had a great morning with Rick. We fished under sunny skies from 7:30Am until 12:30PM. The water is low and a cool 58 degrees. We saw Tricos, caddis and a few other things flying around. A few small browns were taking off the surface. Almost the entire bite is off the bottom. Rick really did not want to fish nymphs. He likes dries and a long dropper trailing. So we rolled with that and I also had a streamer rod at hand, because Rick said he did not mind tossing streamers. Dry/droppers did not do much in the deeper runs. So I moved around to find runs that suited this style of fly fishing. We had a very productive time. Rick landed 5 10-14 inch browns and a nice rainbow on the dropper. The streamer made for some action and well. Had two strikes, and had two over 18 inch on. How they tossed the fly was a surprise for us. Like anyone who has been down here, he’s dying to come back in 2027 with his buddy. I have Oct. 9-10 open due to a cancelation also with a farmhouse stay if needed. Great time to get on these wild brown trout.
